Now Serving Pittsburgh/Portland/Seattle
The only area agency requiring national certification for all ASL interpreters/transliterators and guarantees that you will receive services only from professionals that have proven proficiency.
All of our interpreters have gone thru extensive training in their working languages. Each individual interpreter retains years of extensive cultural and linguistic mediation experience. This allows you to rely on their deep understanding of how important not only what is being said but also the point and scope of your message. Our interpreters take pride in deciphering meaning, tone as well as cultural nuances.
CART/captioning can be used in a variety of settings including but not limited to classrooms, legal settings, courtrooms, public events, public broadcasts and meetings. SCInterpreters offer Communication Access Real-time Translation services to Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas.
In the State of Pennsylvania, much like other states, a person can not legally interpreter without being listed on the ODHH (Office of Deaf and Hard of Hearing.) While there may be a rare exception in the law, such as a serious medical emergency, it is a punishable offence. It not only puts the Hiring Agency at risk but the interpreter themselves. Below is a full list of acceptable ASL certifications.
